Citalopram and its accompanying side effects

It is natural to face side effects when it comes to the intake of anti depressants. The market is flooded with medicines for depression, but comes with no guarantee of permanent relief rather most of them leave behind critical side effects. One such popular medicine for depression is citalopram and it’s sold with the name of Celax. It is a well known antidepressant medication which is also used to deal with anxiety. If you are a citalopram user, you need to make sure that you keep this medication out of the reach of adolescents and kids because this medication is prohibited for use of children. There are numerous citalopram side effects, some of which are listed below:
·         Suicidal thoughts or behavior (see Celexa and Suicide)
·         Anxiety, agitation, or panic attacks
·         Hostility or aggressiveness
·         Engaging in unusual or dangerous activities
·         Restlessness or inability to sit still
·         Extreme elation or feeling of happiness that may switch back and forth with a depressed or sad mood
·         Other unusual changes in behavior
·         Chest palpitations
·         Difficulty sleeping
As per the researches, it has been identified that Celexa is no longer recommended by FDA. Celexa is an antidepressant drug that is known as selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors which works by increasing the quantity of serotonin in the brain. In some recent researches, it has also been confirmed that the drug can be perilous and can cause birth defects. Consulting a doctor is important before leaving the drug so as to avoid the risks of selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRI) discontinuation syndrome.  It is important to note here that all the drugs falling under the category of SSRI have the same citalopram side effects.
